Faithful Families
FAITH FOR PARENTS
Opportunities for Parents to Grow in Faith
Parents provide the foundation for faith formation in their children. With support from their church family they will be better equipped for the task of sharing Christian traditions with their children. Parents, grandparents and caregivers all need opportunities to grow in their faith to feel confident about their own Christian beliefs. By developing their faith skills both at church and home they will be better able to parent their children in a way that will encourage faith growth in them.
Children need to see in their parents that faith matters.

The Bible Project
The Bible is a wonderful book that can seem overwhelming and is often misunderstood. The Bible project seeks to help people of all ages better understand the Bible in an engaging and approachable way. They are a non-profit animation studio that produces short videos to make the Bible accessible to everyone, everywhere for free.
Mealtime Matters
Research shows that having regular meals as a family has numerous benefits for children relating to academics, behavior, and faith. It doesn't need to be a gourmet meal with perfect manners. What matters is being together for a time to pray, share, listen, be thankful and a chance to create lasting memorable moments.
Martin Luther
In October 2017 we commemorated the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation. The changes that Martin Luther brought to the world sparked the Protestant Reformation and the effects of those changes have trickled down to people of all denominations today. You may find it interesting to learn a few facts about Martin Luther that you can talk about with your children.
Caring Conversations
Good communication with your children is essential to healthy relationships. Children should feel they can always come to their parents with any thoughts or questions. Caring conversations require patience, practice, and sometimes a bit of a risk in sharing your own experiences. Watch this video by Leif Kehrwald with Vibrant Faith for some helpful tips to guide conversations with youth of all ages.
Lifelong Faith
Formation
Faith is a journey! The ELCA has created a booklet with recommended faith formation practices for every stage of life... infants through seniors. The ELCA’s vision is grounded in biblical stories where there are four central components: practices, relationships, learning and service.
Opportunities for Parents at Church
Throughout the year there are various Sunday School classes offered between services for parents to grow in faith at church while their children are in their own classes or in the Nursery. During the week there are also other opportunities for daytime bible studies.
