Faithful Families
FAITH @ CHURCH
Opportunities to grow in faith at First United Lutheran
We gather to learn, to celebrate, to worship... experiencing faith and community as a church family.
"And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another..."

6th - 12th Grade
2nd - 5th Grade
Once or twice a year we offer a Parent/Grandparent "Come to Sunday School" Day. On these days parents, grandparents or other special adults are invited to attend their youth’s regular Sunday school class (preschool through high school) for an intergenerational learning opportunity. Check the Sunday School Schedule above to see when the next one will occur.
NURSERY
FOR AGES 0 - 3
Nursery care is provided on Sunday mornings from 8:30am to 12:30pm. We are excited to be gradually transforming our nursery into an intentional ministry site using resources from the new Sparkhouse Frolic Nursery Program including books like the Frolic First Bible, Frolic First Faith board books and Frolic music CD's. These resources introduce age-appropriate faith concepts to help our littlest ones understand God and the world around them. Frolic also provides many Nursery Guides for equipping our caregivers with valuable early faith development information. Click below to read one of the Nursery Guides specifically for parents.
GRACE SPACE
FOR AGES 0 - 4
For those who choose to keep their little ones with them for all or part of worship we provide a space where they can play comfortably and quietly, close to their family, while also experiencing worship. This space is located at the front-left section of the sanctuary. When children can see what’s going on in worship, they absorb more and are more attentive. This allows spiritual formation to begin at an early age and communicates that they are a part of something bigger than themselves. Parents are asked to sit adjacent to Grace Space, so they can tend to their child as needed and help engage them in worship as appropriate. With guidance, children are expected to play/work quietly, be respectful of the space, share and be kind to one another. And please help keep Grace Space neat and clean!
WORSHIP TOOL KITS
FOR PRESCHOOL - 5TH GRADE
These kits include items to help young children learn the rhythm of worship and participate in concrete, age appropriate ways. They will need some guidance so an instruction sheet is included. Teaching children about the different parts of worship is important, so it is okay to whisper about it during the service. The kits can be found in a drawer unit just outside the main entrance to the sanctuary. Help your child take one of the drawers to your pew and then return it (re-organized) after the service.
CHILDREN'S MUSIC MINISTRY
FOR PRESCHOOL - 5TH GRADE
Simple songs are a great way to teach children faith and a fun way for them to contribute to worship. Music also gives them a chance to express themselves and their faith in a different way. A few times throughout the year the children will sing a song for the congregation during the children’s sermon time at both Worship services. In the month(s) prior to this they practice immediately following Sunday School from 11-11:10am.
CHILDREN'S SERMONS
ALL AGES
During worship after the Gospel lesson children are invited to come up front while Pastor Randy speaks to them for a few minutes about the lesson. As children begin to learn all the various parts of worship and liturgy, we also want to take time to pause specifically for the children in order to speak clearly and deliberately to them, explaining the Gospel in simple terms and applying it to their lives. This special time also gives our Pastor a chance to connect with the children.
FROLIC FAITH CLASSES
FOR PARENTS & TODDLERS
Frolic Faith Development Classes are another part of the Frolic Nursery Program mentioned above. Parent(s) (or caregiver) and child (age 1-3) would attend these classes together. The intention is to provide a social, family-friendly setting focusing on the child's faith growth and awareness. Class topics are based on stories from the Frolic First Bible or child development themes from the Frolic First Faith books. Look for more information to come about when these classes might begin.
INTERGENERATIONAL FAITH GROUPS
FOR ALL AGES
Look for information to come in this space about new programming to be developed that would involve the formation of small intergenerational groups of 5 to 10 people that include at least 2 youth and represent a minimum of four generations. The groups would participate in bi-monthly gatherings for study, activities, and fellowship which may incorporate online content. All of the different groups would come together at church twice a year to share and celebrate their experiences.
